All up and down de whole creation
Sadly I roam,
Still longing for de old plantation
And for de old folks at home.

The old home town looks the same
As I step down from the train.
Life shouldnt be a journey to the grave arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but to skid in sideways Chardy in one hand chocolate in other, body thoroughly used up & worn out, screaming "WOO HOO what a ride"

Train whistle blowing, makes a sleepy noise,
Underneath their blankets go all the girls and boys.

thinking bout the things we used to do
thinking about things, like a walk in the park
Things, like a kiss in the dark

Well, when I was a young man never been kissed
I got to thinkin' it over how much I had missed
So I got me a girl and I kissed her and then, and then
Oh, lordy, well I kissed 'er again

The old home town looks the same as I step down from the train,
and there to meet me is my Mama and Papa.
