Jones/Maynard

Post by wilson »

Hi Guys,

Now here is my latest stumbling block.

What i have.

Elizabeth Maynard Christened 4. July 1841 in Sevenoaks, Kent, England.
Migrated with parents Charles Maynard and Martha nee Lee and siblings
William, Thomas, Eliza, and Charles, aboard "The Helen" in 1852
into Melbourne, walked over to Naracoorte, South Australia.
Married Edward Jones( born ? 1827ish not sure where, father Immanuel)
in 1860 in Naracoorte.
From then i have
not been able to find anything on them, nor Elizabeth's father
Charles either...just by the way....Charles senior arrived into
Melbourne, and i have no info on him from then, except i assume
he went to South Australia with his wife and children, because
i have info on them there..............

Now recently some new info on Elizabeth and Edward Jones.
Someone contacted me and has them in New Zealand.
I can't find their migration, and haven't access to look
for births of children to them, or deaths etc.

So if anyone has access, and the inclination for having a
dig for me, i would appreciate it :D

Fingers crossed
May you always have love to share

Thanks Mary,

No rush, they have waited a long time for me to find them :D I lost any trace of Charles Maynard senior about 159 years ago
Now i am thinking maybe he went to NZ as well and died there, or on the way, :?: anyway it has given me a new lead and i am fired up to find him again. This family seem to like walking between South Australia, and Victoria, now i discover that this daughter Elizabeth went to NZ, it gives me pause for thought about Charles as well. Thanks for digging for me, i feel confident with more heads thinking and eyes looking, someone will come up with some good leads :bh

sorry that's all I got. Heaps of Edward Jones's and Elizabeth Jones's,
but no way to tell if they are yours.

I have only got Ancestry and I am not very good at Australian research.

Just waiting for a visitor.

Back later

Thanks Q, i have got that, but that is where i run out of info, they married in Naracoorte SA, then disapeared. Until i had this contact that says Elizabeth and Edward were in NZ.

Thanks for looking everyone, i am excited and hope we come up with something......this new lead might even lead me to the
ever illusive Charles Maynard senior.

Q, I have probable birth in Lydd, Kent, most likely marriage in Cudham( am fairly certain of this) 1841 & 1851 census records, and shipping records (1852) that have him, Martha (wife), and children William, Thomas, Eliza, Elizabeth, and charles junior who died enroute.

Ok no luck with the illusive Charles I am afraid, come out, come out whereever you are :?: Found the Elizabeth marriage you have WIlson :D
Searching SA marriage disc I did not find marriages for either a William or a Thomas Maynard at Naracoorte (searching 1842-1916.)
Searching SA birth records 1842-1908.
No births for children of Edward and Elizabeth.
One birth a William James Maynard at Naracoorte to a William Maynard and Margaret McMillan - 28.08. 1878
Searching SA deaths 1842-1915.
Martha Maynard 24.06.1891 Naracoorte, status widow aged 83 (darn it no relative listed)
William Maynard 17.10.1879 Naracoorte aged 42, no relative listed.
