Re: Free census on Ancestry for one day..
Thanks for that Mary. I suggest we look at Ancestry about 2 or 3 o'clock in our afternoon otherwise
there are too many people and the site slows or crashes when they have their free sessions!!

Re: Free census on Ancestry for one day..
Seems someone didnt tell the full story when advising of this on the web. Got this off the Surrey list today..
There is a note currently doing the rounds that suggests Ancestry is
allowing free
access to all their records on UK Census day on 27 March. This appears to
be slightly misleading and is not quite the full picture.
The situation seems to be that on 27 March there will be free access to the
census
*indexes* for England, Wales and Scotland via **Ancestry.co.uk** . One
will need to sign up to a 14 day free trial to have access to the images.
See:
http://blogs.ancestry.com/uk/2011/03/21 ... 7th-march/
If considering doing this it could be worth comparing with Ancestry.com
where the full world-wide package of records is also, apparently, available
for 14 day free trial seemingly on a similar basis.
