Halfpenny, Tasmanian Records.
I'm wondering if anyone has a working Pioneer Index or AVRI disc for Tasmania.
Searching for the deaths of Thomas b abt 1801 And Mary Halfpenny b abt 1811 (maiden name unknown) both transported from Tipperary. They both received their Ticket of leave in 1845, and Mary received a Colonial Pardon in 1847 so it is possible they may have relocated to Victoria.
Also marriages or deaths for their five daughters, also born Tipperary but transported with their mother to Tassie.
Joannah b 1830
Ellen b 1833, although I do know she married John Smith - cannot get away from that name, lol :)
Margaret b 1836
Mary b 1838
Cheers, Rebs xxx

Re: Halfpenny, Tasmanian Records.
thanks Dizz, but definitely not the NSW Halfpennys. What exactly were those records for Dizz ??? To confuse matters there is another Thomas Halfpenny convict already in Victoria, but he was transported from Middlesex prior to my Thomas and Mary arriving. From what I can work out he served his sentence then moved to Victoria and married there.
Victoria is an option as I have found Thomas, Mary and daughter Margaret all making trips to Victoria at various times but there are no return journey records so I don't know if they eventually stayed or returned to Tasmania.
Mary Halfpenny, 29 April, 1849 Launceston to Port Fairy, Victoria. Only 5 days after she obtained her cert of freedom.
Thomas Halfpenny and daughter Margaret, Launceston to Melbourne, Victoria. 12 January, 1852
Thomas and wife Mary, Launceston to Melbourne, Victoria. 20 August, 1852.
I really need to search out death certs, and I'm hoping they are in Victoria rather than Tassie because the records hold far more information.

Having done a bit of tree snooping, the Thomas Halfpenny 1894 Collingwood is the convict from Middlesex. His parents were Patrick Halfpenny and Bridget Collins. He was quite a historical figure and his life in Victoria is very well documented. It's always somebody elses ancestors who have the documented history in minute detail, lol. ah well, back to the drawing board, lol
