I am researching for a friend and we have hit a wall can anyone help.

Details

Henry Plumer Skinner born about 1834 in Godalming Surrey
Married Maria Bullen 2nd Qtr 1881
I think he had an earlier wife.

Samuel Skinner Born 1844 Dorking Surrey
Married Sarah Milson 23 Dec 1866 Staines.

Their parents were Thomas Skinner and Ann Plumer Steadman
They also had Eliza Margaret & Mary A.
Henry Plumer Skinner
We found Henry in 1841, 1851, 1861 & 1871. Next we find him in 1891 as
Samuel Henry Skinner. It appears that he has taken on his brothers identity,
or visa vera. In 1901 it is the same. On both he is married to Maria, and the
same children. In 1911 he is an inmate in a Brentford institutian. He died in 1918.
It is suggested that he was an alcholic. My friend has found him in 1881 as Sknener
In 1841 - 1881 he is a butcher but after that he is a wheelright.

Samuel Skinner
In 1851 he is living with his mother and in 1861 he is living with his Sister and BIL
and he is listed as being a Wheelwright. After this,we cannot find Samuel, unless he
is with Maria with a slight name change.

Any help would be appreciated. I only have Ancestry.

Have you found a birth reg for Samuel. It would not have been unusual for his parents to give him Henry as a second name even though he has an older brother named Henry. And Henry Plumer showing as a butcher, then a wheelwright in later census ??? Could be both brothers with Maria at different times - what were the ages on the census ???

Henry Plumer Skinner baptised 12 October 1834 IGI batch. C01333-2

Henry Plumer Skinner married Mary Ann Griffiths 25 September 1859 Hammersmith, London (this is from a private tree)

Henry was married twice.

Mary Ann Griffiths Jul-Aug-Sep 1859 Kensington London
John Mackay Jul-Aug-Sep 1859 Kensington London

Catherine Woodland Mackensey Jul-Aug-Sep 1859 Kensington London
Amelia Sophia Pearson Jul-Aug-Sep 1859 Kensington London
Henry Plumman Skinner Jul-Aug-Sep 1859 Kensington London
Henry Plummer Skinner Jul-Aug-Sep 1859 Kensington London
John Stevens Jul-Aug-Sep 1859 Kensington London
It could have been one of these women.
But in 1861 he was on his own.

Samuel married Sarah and they had 2 daughters. The girls married
Emily Ann married Ephraim William Fitch March 1891
Sarah married Victor Andrews Sept 1890.

If the Samuel Henry in the Wheelright, what happened to his wife Sarah. Why
is he now with Henry Plumer's wife Maria with different children.

When Samuel and Sarah married, Henry was a witness.

It gets very confusing.

I found a Sarah Skinner in 1911 but there isn't much informtion so apart from
being born in Wiltshire, she could be anybody. No children are listed.
