George Hunt .. new database on Masters and Mates Certificate

Post by MacPanda »

Saw this on Facebook Family Matters.........New database on Ancestry.............

About Great Britain, Masters and Mates Certificates, 1850-1927

This database contains master and mate certificates issued to merchant seamen by the British Board of Trade.

Has anyone got a sub and could do a look up for me please.

GEORGE HUNT in 15/1/1872 was on the s.s. Canada ON 1285 Glasgow registered 1001 tons
George was born 9/8/1835 Derby UK and died 1/6/1913 Portland Oregon USA

I've got this info out of a little black book of his but can't find a record of him .. they have a box of records on the ship at Kew but they didn't find any mention of him in the free 2 hour search and I can't spare an arm and leg for them to look further....I was wondering if something might pop up in the new database.

Australia.

I have found a tree on Ancestry that may be your George.

He had two wives, one

Death 20 November 1865 in Mancherter, England
that prioduced one child

Annie Hunt

Death
The second wife was

Nellie Fowler

that produced 3 children

Typical, when I go back into search and put in the same information, I can't find the same tree.

Lots of others though.

YT's brother Daryl Garrittson does FH but he doesn't share what he finds but his wife Belinda often slips me some information...funny thing is a lot of what he has, has come from me through Leslie, YT's wife. Leslie may even have a tree on Ancestry from a few years back when she had a sub. Not sure if my FTM created a tree for me when I first got it but a free 12mth sub came with the disc when Raven and another lady sent it to me for a Chrissy pressy around 2007.
