The World War - 1914 -18 took so many.
My Great Uncle Ernest Dean died in 1916 - sad he seemed to be forgotten until I mentioned to my late father that I had found his war records, only then did my late father say that he remembered a photogrpah of Ernest in the "front room" of his loved Grandmother, Hannah Dean, nee Taylor, but he did not know anything about him. Hannah obviously grieved and remembered her lost son.

HE WAS 16 AND AT NAVY TRAINING
THEY TOOK ALL OF THEM UNTRAINED INTO SERVICE
ON THE CLAN MCNAUGHTON IT SUNK FIRST DAY OUT
SEEMS ONLY 6 OFFICERS WERE TRAINED AND IT WAS A MERCHANT SHIP
FITTED OUT WRONG,MAJOR COVERUP
GRAN DIDNT KNOW HE WAS AT SEA,TILL SHE GOT THE LETTER
MY DAD WAS BORN A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER
I HAVE HIS MEDAL
HIIS NAME IS ON THE CHATHAM DOCKS MOMORIAL
HENRY ROBERT MANSFIELD AGE 16...rip
